"I don't regret having served at all," says Wilson Makabe. After a brief internment and work-release program, he enlisted in the Army, only to lose a leg during combat with the 100/442nd in Italy. "we were more upset with the Japanese for having started the whole thing." Now retired in Nevada, Makabe was chief of prosthetic services at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Reno.
