During the 1930's a chemical plant began dumping lethal methylmercury into Minamata Bay. The eating of contaminated fish led to deaths and birth defects. At Meisui-en Hospital, built expressly for the victims, Kazumichi Hannaga, 37, indulges his passion for photography.
