March 11 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. Measuring 9, biggest ever to hit Japan destroying the NE coast line cities and villages for 200 plus miles. Overview from graveyard (usually situated on higher ground due to reverence for ancestors) looking down on burned destruction. Crews attempt to move debris into piles and soldiers poke into it with poles looking for any of the 16,000 missing. (number continually changing).Body under blue tarp protecting it from view of neighbors and possible family. Body unidentifiable although looked like Mr.... who lived in this area. Tatami mats were used to make a path to carry body to truck where soldiers saluted and then went back to the work of looking for others. Respect for the dead body impressive.
