Once extensively logged, Jiuzhaigou is now China’s most popular national park. The reserve protects 278 square miles of what the UN Environment Programme calls “the most biologically diverse temperate forest in the world.” Five Colored Pond is one of 118 lakes in Jiuzhaigou.
