Kanding, gateway to Tibet, former tea depot, distribution center. Tea brought over the mountains by porters was then packed on to horses and yaks for trips to Llasa and beyond. Nothing remains from those days as trucks are loaded at the tea factories in Yaan. Flood destroyed old warehouses and Tibetan style buildings leaving newly rebuilt Chinese city.
