A steaming cauldron of the Tibetan staple yak butter tea will serve 800 monks at Shechen Monastery. Tea, yaks and horses were the lifeblood of Tibet, and have been since the ancient Chamagudao (Tea Horse Road) was the main trading route known as the southern Silk Road.
