Locals gather on the main concourse of Shwedagon Pagoda after nightfall. The pagoda is considered Myanmar's greatest treasure, a massive gold-plated wonder that embodies the country's natural and spiritual bounty. Its 99-meter (325-foot) spire looms magnificently over the city's skyline and radiates golden light in all directions.
