The Saijo festival. This is a harvest festival dating back to the Edo period and is held annually, in October in the eastern part of Ehime Prefecture on Shikoku. Men dressed in traditional costume carry more than 130 danjiri, festival floats, containing kami, deities, while womenfolk take part in other rites.
