Enamored of Mount Fuji after many visits, a feudal lord named Hosokawa Tadatoshi decided upon returning home to Kumamoto to erect the mountain in his own backyard. Some 350 years later, workers at Suizenji park still hand-trim the grass on his 50-foot-high micro-mountain.
