Ming Dynasty Canal town, once collected a fourth of taxes along Grand Canal as it was here that boats had to be removed from the water and transferred to 2nd canal, so it was easy to collect. As part of the tax, each boat had to take 20 to 50 bricks to beijing. Pics of Yongxiang Brick Kiln, still making bricks in traditional way and supplying the Palace in Beijing. Loading kiln takes 4 days. Entire process is 28 days. Steam makes bricks grey.
